Barrick – Remote Technician

Responsibilities

  • Make sure every employee works in a safe and healthy surroundings.
  • Maintaining, fixing electrical problems, diagnostics and fault finding, regular inspections on several remote systems
  • Plan group projects for the unit and transmit reports back to Automation/Auto Electrical Foreman.
  • Make sure mobile tools are kept reasonably priced and safely maintained.
  • MineLAN for production and onboard systems Accessibility
  • LCS Availability for Loader Control Systems
  • ACS System Availability (hardware for production areas)
  • Preventive maintenance as well as daily operations on both automation and electrical systems on Remote loaders depend on video/audio system availability.
  • Drill rig automation system availability
  • Colleagues should see safe working practices and Hazard Identification concepts and procedures followed.
  • Show your dedication to safe working procedures by example; act quickly on any unsafe behaviour or circumstance you come across and track standards.
  • Complete adherence to OEM repair guidelines and all safety and training standards.
  • Attend every training module included in the Automation Skills Matrix curriculum for vehicle electrical systems.
  • Track mine underground automation projects and cut any unnecessary practices to guarantee aim for automation is reached.
  • Help and work through the departmental tactical strategies to reach the general corporate goal.
  • Where needed, maintain equipment component change outs and rebuilds.
  • Apply most recent technologies to enhance vehicle repairs.
  • Mastery of hardware and software problems on distant systems
  • Excellent mastery of operating systems, networking, and software tools
  • Capacity for simultaneous management of several tasks and prioritising.
  • Superb ability to communicate technically and to translate technical problems for non-technical clients.

Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics,)
  • Automation/Mechatronic Certification is highly desired

Experience and Competencies needed.

  • Minimum three years of artistic experience in mining auto electrical/automation repair position.
  • Knowledgeable in methods and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge in a major subterranean mining project.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication abilities as well as the capacity to engage with people from many backgrounds and levels.
  • Strong safety background and capacity to push practices for a safe workplace.
  • superb written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Word, Access, Excel.
  • Risk identification and hazard identification.
  • Driving competency.

About The Team

North-west Tanzania’s Tarime section of the Mara region houses the North Mara gold mine. It lies twenty miles south of the Kenyan border and roughly 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria.

In 2002 North Mara began commercial production. Comprising two deposits—Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit), the mine has an open pit and underground operation. Daily average capacity of the process facility is 8,000 tonnes of ore.
