Part time: Social Worker
Kafika House is looking for a kind and committed Part-Time Social Worker to offer children and their families receiving treatment for surgically curable disabilities supportive counseling. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assure the welfare of our patients, the ideal candidate will push for a comprehensive approach to treatment.
About us
Founded in Arusha, Tanzania, Kafika House is an international non-profit with a site in Karatu. Running the Kafika House program, we give children with surgically treatable conditions pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation in a safe and loving environment. These include osteomyelitis, cleft lip and palate, clubfoot, skeletal fluorosis, burn scar contractures, Our goal is for no child in Tanzania to be living with a treatable handicap.
- As per government guidelines, keep current patient records and report promptly to the Facility Coordinator.
- Guide patients and their families through their treatment path by means of compassionate and encouraging counseling.
- Working with therapists, nurses, mental health professionals, and other healthcare providers guarantees comprehensive patient care.
- Support the application of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) instruments to track program efficacy and patient development.
- Complete any other tasks directed by the Facility Coordinator.
Job Opportunities at Social Worker – Kafika House
Knowledge, Abilities, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, or another allied discipline from an accredited university. One more advantage is registering with the Tanzania Association of Social Workers (TASWO).
- At least two (2) years of pertinent experience in case management, counseling, or community outreach—probably in a hospital, NGO, or social welfare environment. Highly sought after is experience working with vulnerable groups, people with impairments, or children.
- Excellent communicator abilities and a kind attitude.
- Capacity to perform well inside a multidisciplinary healthcare setting and as a team.
- Organization skills and time management.
- Dependable, honest, and competent in handling private patient records.
- English and Swahili fluency—both written and spoken.
- Basic computer literacy—MS Word, Excel, and report writing techniques
