M&E Coordinator at Global Resource Alliance

Based in Musoma, Tanzania, Global Resource Alliance – Tanzania (GRA-Tz) is a non-profit international organization. It relates to Global Resource Alliance (GRA), a US non-profit. To address poverty, starvation, sickness, and environmental damage in the Mara Region of Tanzania, GRA-Tz advocates natural, whole, sustainable solutions. Our operations are expanding and the company is seeking a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) coordinator to support Tanzanian team development and handle data collecting and processing for a forthcoming, multi-year forest landscape restoration project in Butiama District.

GRA-Tz has been operating since 2011, in conjunction with the Belgian NGO, WeForest, providing approximately 2 million trees to government schools and local communities in the Mara Region. In order to this end, it runs two tree nurseries, one in Butiama and one in Utegi presently producing roughly 800,000 seedlings yearly.

GRA-Tz, in partnership with WeForest, is planning to implement a four + four -year initiative (two phases) called ‘the Butiama Hillside Forest Restoration Project, re-greening the surrounding landscape starting’ in 2023. The company is advocating Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) best practices, so inspiring a movement and involving local authorities and residents to act sensibly.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: M&E Coordinator

Location: Butiama, Tanzania
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Role

  • Review the M&E framework and logframe exhaustively.
  • Apply enhancements to every M&E tool and procedure used in the program.
  • Ask beneficiaries and possible beneficiary populations both quantitative and qualitative biophysical and socioeconomic questions.
  • Gathering and evaluating data with digital data collecting technologies and statistical programs
  • Send the GRA-TZ director, GRA-USA and WeForest frequent thorough progress reports.
  • Write the M&E budget.
  • Create quality products on schedule to guarantee they satisfy criteria related to their budget, scope, and timetable.
  • Help as needed in creating grant proposals.
  • Help project manager with other responsibilities as necessary

Terms & Conditions

Contract type: renewable contract starting for one year initially

Starting date: Ideally beginning of May 2025

Position: Full-time contract based on Butiama or Musoma

Full-time employment requiring minimum daily minimum of eight hours of work. Still, hours will vary depending on the project’s requirements and degree of flexibility is crucial.

Working under the direction of the Project Manager, the M&E Coordinator will answer to him and the GRA-TZ country director.

Package: Competitive one for a small non-profit with pay dependent on experience.

Projected Deliverables

First month on board will see agreed upon expected deliverables and corresponding timelines.

Qualifications

  • Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Ecology, Bio-engineering, Quantitative/qualitative Research Methods, Statistics, Remote sensing or another pertinent discipline, a Master degree, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ M&E experience working in relevant sector with smallholder farmers in Tanzania
  • Experience in building logical frameworks (logframe), work plans, unambiguous indications, milestones and targets
  • Experience with biophysical data collection (e.g. forest structure & vegetation assessments) and socio-economic data collection (e.g. household surveys)
  • Experience with digital data collections tools (e.g. KoboCollect, GIS Cloud)
  • Computer literate and proficient in use of Windows Office (especially Excel & Word) Experience in handling and manipulating spatial data & GIS software (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS)
  • Demonstrable talents in coordinating, teaching, reporting and communicating
  • Experience with (statistical) data analysis methods and software (e.g. SPSS, R) is a plus

Additional criteria

  • In possession of a driving license, experience with driving motorbikes and other vehicles is considered a plus
  • Flexible in terms of traveling and living circumstances
  • Ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines and less supervision, self-motivated person, team player, reporting and presentation skills.
