Joseph Nyabukika is the executive editor of Mwananchi; Victor Mushi is the executive editor of Mushi. Heading Mwanasporti in Tanzania and Kenya is Michael Mombiri. In sports writing, Sanga, the former executive editor, is regarded as a legend.

Editor-in-Chief of The Citizen and Sunday Citizen newspapers, Mpoki Thomson has helped to bring about social and economic change in Tanzania. At the age of 28, he became the youngest editor to occupy the post of editor-in-chief following appointment in January 2021.

Job SUMMARY

In charge of planning profitable events in line with MCL’s strategic and financial objectives. Emphasising ideation, sales, and delivery, you will develop and oversee both new and current event ideas from beginning to end. You will create concepts, win stakeholder buy-in, sell to sponsors and partners, and apply high-impact strategies, including thought-leadership forums, expos/exhibitions, summits, and festivals. Working together with both an internal sales team and outside sales reps, you will land sponsorships and strategic alliances. You will guide your colleagues to carry out and guarantee internal buy-in for fresh event ideas. You will handle all logistics, guarantee the success of every MCL event so benefiting viewers, sponsors, and participants. Working together with sales and marketing, you will lead event innovation, guarantee flawless execution, and improve MCL’s brand visibility. You will design legendary events that engage audiences, expand business, and generate income.

Full Job Description

Partnerships, Sales & Sponsorship Development

  • Find and cultivate ties with possible sponsors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Create a sales pipeline catered to every particular event, then negotiate sales with both internal and outside sales teams.
  • Create sponsorship proposals and work on contracts, essentially trying to maximise income for MCL.
  • Make sure deliverables for partnerships are satisfied before, during, and after events.
  • Sales, Growth, and Control in Management
  • By swiftly and creatively creating a sales staff, we can increase our capacity to ideate faster and deliver several events at a go.
  • Train, mentor, and empower MCL’s present sales team to create ideas fast and effectively market new events.
  • Within MCL’s sales department, as well as the larger MCL corporate body, champion attitude changes and positive behaviour follow.
  • Share the value of events as an important component of MCL’s income diversification and transformation plan.

Event Planning & Management

  • Create and carry out ideas, plans, and schedules for events.
  • Pitch ideas inside your company to get important stakeholder approval.
  • Control event logistics, including location, permits, suppliers, and on-site coordination.
  • Control finances, timetables, and staff assignments to guarantee seamless event implementation.
  • Create and apply backup plans for possible difficulties during an event.
  • Engagement and Cooperation among Stakeholders
  • Work with internal teams—including editorial, marketing, and communications—to match event objectives with the mission of the business.
  • Keep solid ties to business leaders, suppliers, and community partners.
  • Finance and Budget Management
  • Prepare and control event budgets to guarantee efficient use of resources.
  • Track spending and send thorough post-event financial reports.

Event Reporting & Evaluation

  • Review events to gauge performance and point up areas needing work.
    Prepare thorough event reports that include attendance records, comments, and impact analysis.
    Show the audience and influence of MCL’s events outside of its own media network using statistics and digital tools.
    Risk Management and Compliance
    Make sure all MCL activities follow legal, safety, and health codes.
    Site inspections and safety rule enforcement help to reduce hazards.
    The candidate is expected at minimum to fulfil all agreed-upon sales, collection, customer service, and impact reporting targets as a revenue-generating function.

Sales: Attain 100% of your monthly and quarterly sales goals.
Collection: Collect 100% of any outstanding debt.
Customer service: Resolve all complaints within 24 hours.
Impact reporting: Deliver impact reports
