Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill vacant posts for the School of Dentistry on a contract basis of two years (2 years) as illustrated herein below:
1. DENTSURGEONS – – 2 POSTS
aa. Entry Entryations
a doctor of dental surgery from a recognised institution who has successfully completed a one-year internship and has been registered by the Medical Council of Tanganyika as a dental officer with a valid practicing license.
b. Duties and Responsibilities
i.i. Torovide routine and emergency dental health services for inpatients and outpatients;
- Toprepare patients for procedures or surgeries and carry out postoperativefollow-ups;
iii. To participate in ward rounds, patient presentations, and journal clubs, and provide appropriate management to patients;
- Toparticipate in the preparation of themedical report.
To participate in research activities within the respective department. To

viii. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

11. MEDICAL SPECIALIST II – (ANAESTHESIOLOGIST) – 1 POST

Qualifications
Holda MasterMaster of Medicine Degree (MMed) in Anaesthesiology must be a holder of a Doctor of Medicine, registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT), completed a one-year internship, and have a valid practicing license.

vii. Provide general anaesthesia to the maxillofacial patient and monitor their vital signs during and after anaesthesia.
viii. Perform nasal and submental intubation for maxillofacial surgery.
- Supervisepatients and monitor their pain medications before, during, and after surgery; offset adverse complications or reactions; record the amount and type of anaesthesia as well as the patients’ conditions throughout procedures.
- Determinerisk during medical procedures by taking medical histories, patients, and patients and ordering diagnostic procedures like x-rays and laboratory tests; discuss with other healthcare professionals about the method and type of anaesthetic to make patients numb to pain.
- Provideand sustain airway management and life support during emergencysurgery.
xii. Monitor patients’ post-surgery and determine when they are stabilised enough to move to another room or go home.
xiii. Manage anesthesiologic services and coordinate with other professionals to formulate procedures and plans; direct the duties of medical technicians, nurses, and other healthcare support staff.

THETIST (ANAESTHESIA) – 1 POST
a. Entry Qualifications
Holder of a Bachelor of Science in Nurse Anaesthesia must be registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC), plus successful completion of one year of internship, and must have a valid practicing license.
b. Duties and responsibilities. Prepare
Prepare the operating room with necessary anaesthetics and appropriate equipment for the administration of anaesthesia.
- Assemblethe machine for administering gas, selecting, obtaining, and administering pre-anaesthetic medications, which may include sedatives/hypnotics/anxiolytics, narcotics, medications that decrease gastric acidity, drugs that enhance gastric emptying, steroids, antimuscarinics, ant sialagogues, antihypertensives, and preoperative intravenous fluids.
iii. To support life functions during the period in which anaesthesia is administered, including induction and intubation procedures.
- Providesgeneral anaesthesia,regional anaesthesia, and monitored anaesthesia care for oral and maxillofacial surgery patients.
- Monitorsand manages patients’ vital functions, care, and pain during and after surgery and/or procedure
- Caresfor patients requiring pain management, anticoagulation, and airway management services
vii. anaesthesia for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients undergoing interventional radiology treatment such as sclerotherapy and other non-surgical interventional procedures requiring anaesthesia and/or sedation.
viii. Conduct postoperative follow-up. Performing
performing and documenting pre-anaesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, to include obtaining an appropriate health history and conducting a physical screening assessment
