Position:

This position is to create, apply, and supervise health and safety systems and procedures connected to the Nyanzaga gold mine’s project building. The responsibility also guarantees that contractors follow all pertinent corporate policies and health and safety rules, therefore fostering a safe working environment all around the project site. Field operations for the Perseus Health and Safety staff will be coordinated by the Health and Safety Superintendent.

Positions and duties:

Oversaw contractor HSE performance to guarantee statutory and business-specific safety criteria were followed.
Check and approve the HSE management plan of the contractor to guarantee congruence with the safety goals of the project.
Apply and oversee the program for managing the fatality risk.
Safety audits and contractor activity inspections help to find risks and guarantee appropriate corrections.
Lead incident investigations for major safety concerns to guarantee correct root cause analysis and remedial action.
Track and document performance in health and safety, then give stakeholders and the Project HS Manager regular updates.
Make that site staff members are suitably qualified to carry out tasks without risk.
Encourage communication and improvement by organising frequent safety meetings including safety committee meetings and toolbox seminars.
Make that every contractor safety record is compliant with project standards, current, and easily available.
Help the medical clinic to be run.
Plan and oversee the emergency response team development.
Join in emergency exercises to guarantee preparedness for such events.
Support Nyanzaga Mine technically in terms of health and safety concerns.
Manage subordinate staff members to foster professional relationships in line with Perseus’s standards.
Create development and training matrices for those in health and safety.
Control direct report performance with annual reviews, coaching, and comments.
Experience and qualifications:

Tertiary degrees and NEBOSH in OHS administration.

Minimum of ten years in mine site HSE management responsibilities, five of which were spent in a supervisory or superintendent capacity.
Technical Repertory:

Knowledge in operations/site level social development project management.
Planning and execution experience within a project environment.
extensive knowledge in running HSE operations for big building projects, especially in the mining sector.
Verified capacity to control contractor HSE performance in underdeveloped nations.
Excellent communication and leadership help to create a good safety culture.
ICAM and incident investigation experience.
Nontechnical Capacity:

knowledge of business planning and project scheduling techniques and their application to project development’s critical path times.
Capacity to operate without direction.
Capacity to challenge constructively and reach group success.
good at evaluating and deciphering data from several sources.
Good written and spoken English as well as Swahili, having the capacity to organise meetings, create presentations, and write reports.
Capacity to help others to grow, including direct and indirect reporting under coaching.
Resilience, adaptability, and flexibility help one to control teams and balance professional rigour in dynamic surroundings.
Capacity for both internal and external building of positive relationships.
