Completely integrated beverage company Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) serves Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits).

Serengeti Premium Lager is SBL’s flagship brand. The portfolio includes other brands such as Serengeti Lite, Guinness, Pilsner, and SIB. Head office for SBL is Dar es Salaam; it also distributes several worldwide Diageo international world-class spirits brands, including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Bailey’s, and Captain Morgan from there.

Objectives of Role

The autonomous maintenance operator will be in charge of replacing worn-out components and sub-assemblies, as well as performing, supervising, and coordinating repairs and changeovers. The role holder will help the trade person during major maintenance; create and improve one-point lessons and basic condition monitoring diagrams.

Important Responsibilities

Technical: Operate, maintain, improve, and repair (OMIR) equipment using knowledge and application of technical abilities. This guarantees safe, at the appropriate level of quality, timely meeting of production targets.
Know the ideas of motion and force and be qualified to do simple repairs, changeovers, and adjustments.
Make sure all equipment is efficiently lubricated by using the suitable lubrication schedules.
Understanding of concepts and application of pneumatics on the machine unit; competent to do basic repair and fault detection.
Basic electrical jobs on the equipment include lockout/tagout, isolation procedures, fault location on a common control system, and testing and verification of common proximity sensors.
Safety: To guarantee a safe working environment for the entire team, apply suitable safety and environmental protocols for people, processes, products, materials, and equipment. Environment: By means of proper waste and hazardous material management, help to minimise impact on health, safety, and the environment by so reducing costs resulting from waste.
Quality: Make sure that every element of your area of responsibility follows Diageo Quality guidelines to safeguard and forward the brand and product.
Leadership: While maintaining focus on team goals and targets, encourage the growth of a very competent and independent team by means of robust communication and teamwork.
Coach particular independent team members to others, thereby promoting excellence by championing particular skills.
Constant Improvement: Find and give production area top priority for losses using performance indicators. Eliminate losses by applying strict cost deployment and the zero loss idea. Problem-solving skills enable one to recognise, prioritise, and solve issues with suitable tools and approaches that replace malfunctioning parts and so prevent recurrence.
Understanding production plan targets and evaluating performance helps one to drive functional goals at the team and personal level.
Administration: Work with colleagues to schedule shift and break cover, train new hires, and fix performance issues so that team resources may satisfy operational needs.
Requirements for Qualifications and Experience

An extra benefit would be a bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering with a certificate in the relevant engineering discipline.
Three years of operations, maintenance, process control, and performance measurement expertise in a brewery or beverage production setting.
It is beneficial to show thorough knowledge of SBL SHE policies, regulatory requirements, and obligations, as well as the Permit to Work system.
Show that you grasp ideas of team building, ongoing development, preventative maintenance, and problem solutions.
