We are seeking to recruit Drivers for a five-year USDA project meant to grow and transform small and medium enterprise (SMEs) poultry value chain into sustainable commercial business in Tanzania. The project will boost the feed industry and include climate-smart technologies, improve animal health management practices, Capacity building in agricultural financing services, and enhancing the extension and service providers in Mbeya, Iringa, Songwe, and Rukwa. Job Profile
Operating cars and moving goods and/or passengers for our company shall be the driver’s responsibility. The drivers have to observe all state and national driving rules, laws, and guidelines as well as have a clean driving record. In this role, s/he will utilise maps and GPS to traverse paths or follow predetermined routes to locations. They will also keep up vehicle cleanliness and maintenance.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Drive vehicles as advised and follow simple maintenance guidelines to guarantee the longest running life for these essential capital tools.
- Track vehicle (s) maintenance records to guarantee that service plans are followed and to notify the employer in advance when vehicle service is necessary.
- Deliver mail, goods, and other pertinent stuff to offices and companies as suitable and while on safari as advised.
- Travel great distances whether using LWR or not. Employees when called upon follow the policies and rules.
- Make sure that, should one be involved in an accident, the proper actions are taken in line with laws and guidelines.
- Make sure the car is always in good condition and that all the paperwork—including road licenses and insurance—is current. Make sure the car is maintained under constant security.
- Check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. Make sure the car is routinely or daily maintained.
- To update daily, consider all the data on road conditions, accessible paths and destinations (including current radio news on traffic conditions).
- Make little fixes and schedule other repairs; establish the inventory of vehicle spare components.
- Create and send vehicle monitoring reports with records of mileage at end of each month, vehicle operations, maintenance, and expenses.
- The candidates have to have at least Form IV schooling and higher.
- Hold a class C driving licence.
- At least advanced driver’s certificate grade two from National Institute of Transport or another approved Institute
- At least three (3) years of driving experience will be a benefit; past experience working with an INGO will be extra beneficial.
- Good driving record with no significant past two-year accident count.
- One must be somewhat proficient in Swahili and have a rudimentary English knowledge.
