Overview of a Job
Applications for the post of Research Officer II are invited from competent and driven people by the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI). We are looking for three (3) very driven experts to join our committed team in furthering wildlife research and protection. Important Accountability
Working at TAWIRI as Research Officer II, your duties will include:
Research and Data Analysis:
gathering, organising, and evaluating information vital to conservation plans and wildlife management.
Cooperation and Information Sharing:
closely collaborating with research scientists to share results and enable their use in environmental policies.
Documentary Research:
Examining pertinent material and completing thorough research studies help to support wise decisions for the protection of wildlife.
Surveillance of diseases:
helping with the development of thorough surveillance reports and data on wildlife disease collection and analysis.
Development of Wildlife Protocols:
preparing procedures for disease research using wildlife immobilisation and handling as well as for rescue animals caught by snares.
Development of proposals:
Creating research proposals to get money for both new and continuous efforts at wildlife protection.
Research Publication:
adding to scientific knowledge by means of respectable peer-reviewed publications of research results.
Additional Responsibilities:
carrying extra responsibilities as directed by the immediate supervisor to assist priorities and organisational goals.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates seeking this post have to satisfy the following requirements:
Requirements for Education:
From reputable universities, hold a master’s degree in wildlife management or wildlife science and conservation as well as a bachelor’s degree in the same field.
The bachelor’s degree must be earned with an upper second-class minimum grade.
Important Skills:
Mastery in interpretation, analysis, and data collecting.
Excellent mastery of scientific writing and research documentation.
Understanding of methods of wildlife illness surveillance.
Capacity for developing and using methods of handling animals.
Good team-building skills and communication style.
