Among the five Municipal Councils situated in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is Ubungo Municipal Council. The Council’s goal is for a community capable of adjusting to structural, financial, and social change. The Council distinguishes itself by responsibility and service delivery to the people; overall, the goals are to provide better services to the community by using existing resources effectively and build their capacity, good governance and respect for Sharia governance that will improve the life of the community. The main sources of income for the Council are taxes on posters, taxes on city services, business licenses and on the part of the central government; subsidies given in special areas including Health, Education, and Infrastructure mostly depend on taxes and other taxes. The Municipal Council has tried to give better services to the public and search for investment prospects since the sources of income are insufficient to fulfil the needs of the Municipality to offer good and quality services.
