Specialist Employee Relations
Location : Head Office, Hq
Purpose of the Job:
To establish and support behaviours that help the company and its employees to grow and preserve good working relations.
Primary duties:
- Support the Head HR; Employee Relations to either directly or by advise to Line Management investigate and address daily employee relations issues, either directly or through preparation of briefing papers.Employment Ranges
- Counsel staff members, line managers, and the human resources team on handling employee relations problems and preserving positive relationships.
- Promote and preserve a positive working relationship with trade unions and staff representatives.
- Lead meetings with employee representatives and follow up on activities resulting from such interactions for closure.
- Help HR Policies, employee relations initiatives, and/or interventions to grow and flourish.
- To provide fairness to the bank and staff, guarantee appropriate interpretation, implementation, and consistent application of HR Policies and labour laws to all employees.
- Investigate people-related issues and offer leaders suggestions.
- Manage conflicts, grievances and disciplinary matters in conformity with Labour Legislations and bank policies.
- Monthly, quarterly, and/or as needed produce reports on employee relations trends or actions.
- When it is necessary, represent the bank in CMA situations.
- Guarantee adherence to labour laws.
Knowledge and Competency:
- Recognises and shows understanding of employment laws, rules, guidelines, policies, and good practices connected to employee behaviour, performance, and conflict resolution.
- Capacity to create good working connections and trust.
- Policy interpretation; dispute resolution; complaint investigation; problem solutions.
- Experience with sensitive material; capacity to uphold confidentiality and high degree of honesty;
- Capacity to keep polite, sympathetic, and diplomatic in the midst of challenging and awkward events and dialogues.
- Excellent English and Swahili verbal, written, and interpersonal communications.
- Capacity to foresee and recognise legal questions and long-term consequences of associated decisions.
- Good discretion and judgement

- Simple computer literacy
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in either law, industrial relations, human resources management, organisational psychology, or allied subjects.
- One further advantage will be postgraduate degrees in law, mediation, and arbitration.
- minimum three years of experience in medium size to large company employee relations.
