Established especially to aid in the hiring process of staff members to the Public Service, the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is a government institution having independent Department status. The Public Service Act No. 8 0f 2002 established the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat; Act No. 18 of 2007, section 29(1), modified the Public Service Act.

The purposes of the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat
PSRs mostly serve to help the Public Service to be recruited. The Public Service Cap. 298 of 2002 as revised by Amendment Act No. 18 of 2007 section 29 states that the purposes of PSRs are: search for different professionals with particular capabilities and prepare database for such experts for easier recruitment; Register professionals and grads for simple reference of filling open positions;
Promote open public service post openings;
Invite suitable professionals for interview purposes.
Counsel companies on several aspects of hiring; also, do any other actions or activities under the direction of the Minister in charge of Public Services.
